While street food once conjured up images of greasy burgers and soft serve ice cream, it now has an entirely different vibe altogether. From churros and falafel to steamed dumplings and curry, many street food vendors now serve cuisines from around the globe, creating a unified and social feel that many restaurants struggle to replicate.
But that’s all about to change with Auckland’s newest restaurant.
Inspired by Burmese street food, Honeybear will welcome anyone who ‘joyfully eats with their hands,’ and 'who is a connoisseur of Indian street snacks and nano-brew beers'.
Diners can enjoy a range of cuisines including in the restaurant’s almost entirely pink interior, or choose to enjoy a unique range of kombucha cocktails and lassi in the outdoor seating area. Popular food dishes include flatbread served with mint and coriander chutney and coconut green chilli sambol, and pankora with soft shell crab.
