Downward dogs are about to take a turn down under. Berlin-based BierYoga is coming to Australian shores, and they're bringing the two things we love most — beer and yoga — with them.

According to the company's website, Founders Emily and Jhula "take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness."

That's right, you do yoga whilst drinking beer. That's so much better than North American versions that simply take place in a brewery and let you enjoy a drink after the class. Here, the beer-drinking is fully integrated into each individual pose, and sometimes with more than one drink.

The hour-long sessions will be brought to both Sydney and Melbourne on select dates in January and February. The first kicks off today at 6pm, at The Sheaf in Sydney, and if you miss that you can catch Sunday's class at 2pm. After that point, the program moves on to Melbourne, where it will be at Speakeasy on Jan 26 (12pm) and The Village on Feb 8, 15, and 22 (6pm).

Maybe it's the beer talking, but this is definitely a variation we're willing to try. After all, in yoga we're encouraged to listen to our bodies, and ours are saying bring on the beer.
