Even if you don't want to admit it, your phone is the one thing you’ll probably never leave the house without. This probably has something to do with the fact that now there’s an app for almost anything you can think of. With just a click of a button or a swipe of a finger you can bag yourself a date, find the hottest restaurant in your current location, and book your next activity — and travel app, ‘Blink’ is no exception (minus the dating, which we'll leave to Tinder).
Founded by Francesco Fiore, ‘Blink’ was inspired by the ‘one finger experience’ adopted by Tinder and has been nicknamed the ‘Tinder for places'. Targeted at locals as well as travelers, Blink contains everything you could possibly need to be fully introduced and immersed into a new destination, or even an old one, with it being targeted at locals as well as travellers.
The app features guides about specific aspects of travel such as food, districts of interest, art, recommended places and restaurants, as well as local picks so you can tailor it to your interests or what you need at the time. It also includes step by step itineraries if you’re lacking inspiration or need a little guidance in what to do. And if you're worried about getting lost, don't be! Blink features an interactive map helping you find your chosen activity without spending all day hunting it down!
Each attraction comes with a card containing a description, prices, schedule including opening and closing times and tips from other users. Say goodbye to having multiple tabs open and extensive research. Even the most spontaneous of people won’t have chance to miss out on anything with this app in toe. Blink does it all for you.
With the ethos in mind that gathering inspiration should be fun and easy, it’s clear that this app was made to allow people to make memories and use each minute within travel to do so rather than wasting time with multiple apps. Blink is also focused on the local side of things, especially when it comes to food, which has every traveller squealing with delight, so you’re guaranteed to experience local delicacies, whatever your budget. As well as being able to discover every aspect of an area that tickles your fancy, or all if you want to get stuck in.
Despite Blink being new and not without competition, it reached the Top 5 on Product Hunt when launched and was rated 4.8/5 on the App store which speaks for itself. It’s also available both on iPhone and Android and for Desktop users.
