Girls, if you want more bang for your buck, then don't move to Hawaii. At least, that's what a new study says. WalletHub recently measured the best and worst states for working women across the U.S. by looking at their median wages against the cost of living in that particular state.
While women in Hawaii, Oregon, California, Maine and Montana were found to have the lowest earning power, those living in Washington D.C., Minnesota, Delaware, Virginia and Illinois have the highest earning power.
Although some of those might come as a surprise, news that Washington, D.C. is in the top five is unlikely to shock you. This state (although it's not always classed as a state) regularly ranks among the most affluent parts of the U.S., according to Census Bureau. It also ranked first in terms of median household income in 2016.
