If you're like us and have done a fair amount of traveling, chances are you came across certain nationalities while you were abroad. Some would argue that Germans are the most adventurous, whereas others would say that it's almost certainly Australians. While where you travel to will certainly play a part in who you come across, a new report has revealed exactly which nationalities travel the most overall.
As it turns out, it's the luck o' the Irish that get them the top spot. Okay, so it's actually their travel habits that gets them there, but still — who would have guessed the Irish? Following that up comes Australians in second place, and New Zealanders in third. The catch? The study results are organized by the most bookings per capita, meaning that because Ireland's population is small, and so many people travel close to home (we're talking trips to Dublin, Galway, Cork, and Belfast), they managed to list as number one.

Should you reorganize the data a bit to see which nationality travels the most globally, Australian's instead take the top spot, as the most common destinations for them are London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Barcelona. Should you instead remove the population factor, the data would show the US as having made the most bookings for accommodation overseas.
The data all comes from hostel booking website Hostelworld, and is the result of a survey of 170 countries. The most popular destination between them all was Europe, with seven of the top 10 spots all found on the continent.
