Boys, look away now — this is a topic for the ladies. Although you might do yourselves some favors reading up on the subject... Yep, we're talking periods.
According to new research, if your period is off and you're traveling, there could be a good reason for it.
Traveling can be a stressful time, particularly if you have to handle things like delayed flights or adjusting to a totally foreign place, and apparently this can affect the two main hormones that control your cycle — melatonin and cortisol.
With a change in hormones comes a change in your ovulation cycle, therefore making your period come earlier or later. If you take the contraceptive pill, you are more likely to be affected, so to avoid any surprises, doctors recommend finding the equivalent time in your new destination for when you normally take your pill.
Of course, no one is suggesting you wake up in the middle of the night, but taking it as close to the equivalent as possible is recommended. You can find out more here.
