Hawaii has so many stunning locations that we're not surprised Airbnb has so many places to stay. From beach-side abodes to cliff-hanging homes, you can crawl the web until you find the one that works best for you. That said, if a slight thrill is what you're seeking, then we're pretty sure we already found it.
Pheonix House in Kalapana, Hawaii is nestled at the base of an actual active volcano, offering "epic volcano views" from a mere four miles away. Renting at just $114 USD per night, it's a reasonable rate for a night of surreal slumber. Because if a tiny 450-square-foot home surrounded by lava, plumes of smoke, and black lava fields isn't surreal, then we're not sure what is.
Despite its small size and crazy location, the home has some sweet amenities. You'll have a kitchenette, living area, bathroom, and bedroom loft where you can cozy up and put that high-speed wifi to good use. The home's host, Jade, is also a yoga teacher, so you can take in the views while in Tree pose, if it suits you. Advertised as "a space to go to be reborn" we're thinking that definitely fits.
