If you visit India now, you'll notice a lot of its transit is fairly new, and that's because the country has completely revolutionized its transportation system. And its latest addition is the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train.
Set to reduce travel time between the cities from eight hours to just two hours, the bullet train will travel at an average speed of 320kmph and will make two-minute stops at the following stations: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati. The train will also head under the sea for a section of the line — with almost 7km of the 21km line beneath the water.
But if you want an air conditioned carriage, you'd better be prepared to fork out a little extra. It'll set you back ₹3000 (but don't worry, that's only $46 US).
Although it was originally supposed to be ready in 2023, work has been fast-tracked and it's now due to be completed by August 2022. So you can start planning your next trip to India now.
