Hiking is always in season in LA, thanks to Southern Cali's mild climate, even in fall. And whether you’re super into fitness or simply want an excuse to catch up with pals, there’s a trail perfect for every group of friends. Here are six hiking spots that'll help your tribe achieve whole new #squadgoals.

For Celeb Spotters: Runyon Canyon

Length: 2.5 miles

Known as a go-to trail for celebs, Runyon Canyon is a great spot for your pop-culture-vulture friends. Not only will this hike benefit your Instagram, the hike's steep elevation will also help work your booty. As you make your way up the dirt track to stunning views of the city's sprawl, you may come across a few four-legged friends, photo shoots and even a celebrity or two. Seriously, Orlando Bloom, Amanda Seyfried and Ryan Gosling have all been spotted here.

For CrossFit Buddies: Mount Baldy Loop

Length: 9.5 miles

The snow-covered peak of this mountain can be spotted all the way from Downtown. For serious fitness enthusiasts, it's the best spot for training, with various trailheads that range in difficulty, from moderate to extreme. The loop itself features a waterfall as well as the highest vantage point in LA. In other words, it'll give you a ton of snaps and stories to boast about after.

For Hipsters: Inspiration Point via Echo Mountain

Length: 10.4 miles

Far from all the usual Hollywood hiking haunts is Inspiration Point, a hiking trail in Altadena. A little more off the beaten track, you’ll begin at Mount Lowe Railroad, which is home to old cliffside rails that once brought guests to the now-closed Echo Mountain Resort. Throughout the hike, you and the gang will see a series of plaques and laminated photos showcasing this historic sight. At the top, you can survey the view below, including the most hipster 'hood of all, Silver Lake.

For Foodies: East Griffith Observatory Trail

Length: 1.4 miles

This hike is a winner for groups of foodies who'd rather fries over exercise. The park promises a few trailheads but the observatory one is most rewarding for its views of the gorgeous Griffith Observatory, a public astronomy monument overlooking the city. Best of all, after your speedy hike, you'll be rewarded with some cracking nearby eateries such as Little Dom’s (go for breakie) and Alcove Café & Bakery (go for the craft cocktails).

For Creatives: Hollywood Sign Hike

Length: 3.3 miles

The Hollywood sign hike is an iconic (and fairly short) option that everyone should do once, especially those experiencing a creative rut. It'll take you super close to the Hollywood Sign, offering the most Snapchat-worthy scenes in front of the legendary landmark. Once you reach the top, make sure your group takes a moment to sit and ponder the meaning of life on the rock that overlooks the sign. Seriously, you can get the most spectacular views of the City of Angels from here and it'll be sure to ignite some artsy inspo.

For Beach Bums: Point Dume Trail

Length: 1 mile (loop)

Calling all beach bums, surfer dudes and dudettes; consider heading out to the Point Dume Trail. Here you'll be met with a short but sweet hike that overlooks Point Dume beach, surrounded by sparkling blue water and bright white sand. It's also a great place to spot migrating whales. Once you and the gang complete the hike, you’ll have direct access to the beach, where you can hang loose for the rest of the day.
