Inspired by the Sanskrit word for wisdom, Soneva Jani is the latest in luxury vacations. Located in the tropical playground of the Maldives and developed by Soneva, the world-leading luxury resort operator, the archipelago of villas will be open in October.

The resort will consist of 24 over-water villas and one island villa. The specific location of the resort is the island of Medhufaru, which is part of an uninhabited cluster of islands in the Noonu Atoll. Uninhabited is exactly the type of word we like to hear when it comes to a relaxing trip, and to promise an even further lack of crowds, the resort holds one of the lowest densities in the world.

With only 25 villas spanning almost five kilometers, guests can enjoy pristine sandy beaches, lush tropical greenery, crystal clear waters, and a variety of tropical sea life including sea turtles, dolphins, and rays. All of these things can be enjoyed while kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Soneva Jani villas are the roofs. Each villa’s master bedroom (except the 4-bedroom villa) has a retractable roof. What this means, is that guests can lay in bed and stargaze with just the simple touch of a button. And if you're worried about falling asleep and forgetting to close the roof, don't be — if it starts to rain, it will close automatically.

While we're pretty excited about that feature alone, there's another thing that caught our eye. There's a slide from the top deck. That’s right, we said slide.

Should you choose to venture away from your secluded haven, you can take part in morning yoga, go for a bicycle ride or dolphin cruise, and enjoy Robinson Crusoe picnics. In addition, guests can enjoy gourmet cuisine, with cocktails, tapas and over 60 flavors of ice cream available all day long. Lastly, there's a library, spa and silent cinema with bluetooth headphones.
