If you're planning a trip to Mexico — or specifically Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula near popular beach resort of Tulum — you've got to check out its latest discovery.

After 10 long months of exploration, scientists have discovered the world's largest flooded cave system – and it's truly mind blowing. Stretching a whopping 215 miles long, as well as holding a large fresh water reserve, it's also home to hundreds of archaeological sites, including evidence of America's first settlers, Mayan culture, and extinct animals.

Researchers have called the caves a "tunnel of the time that transports you to a place 10,000 to 12,000 years ago."
