Think of summer and you'll probably think of beach days, warm weather, cold drinks, and ice cream. If that last one got your attention, you're probably already aware that it's National Ice Cream Month, and that it just wouldn't be right to let July slip by without featuring some kind of crazy frozen treat.
Which brings us to Serendipity 3. The self-proclaimed 'ice cream parlor to the stars' has been scooping out sundaes in New York City since 1954, with customers including Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Beyonce, and Selena Gomez. Along with their impressive roster of clientele comes an equally impressive list of creations, one of which has earned them a Guinness World Record. This, friends, is the Opulence Sundae.
Aptly named, the creation is about as indulgent as you can get, and the $1,000 price tag reflects that. Just imagine — 3 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla ice cream topped with the rarest and most expensive chocolate and real, edible gold. It's infused with Madagascar vanilla beans, suffused with exotic candied fruit from Paris and truffles from Switzerland, and topped with a gold plated sugar orchid. Just when you thought that must be it, the entire thing is served with a tiny bowl of Grande Passion caviar.
Naturally, such a creation can't just be served in a normal glass. No, the Opulence Sundae will be presented in nothing less than a Baccarat crystal goblet (that you get to take home with you afterwards) and accompanying 18K-gold spoon. Yeah, you can see how that cost would add up. Just make sure that if you plan to order the sundae for yourself, that you order it at least 48 hours in advance — and that you take us with you.
Hop over to Toronto to try some more outrageous ice cream.
