airplane loading with passengers at the airport

As travelers, we're fully aware of the lengths we go to see the world (literally). With direct international flights ranging anywhere between a matter of minutes to 16 hours, there's quite a bit of time we can spend on a plane, and now the options may get even longer.

Air New Zealand has hinted at offering direct flights from Auckland to New York, a total of over 18 hours. While the longest flight is currently between Doha and Auckland (via Qatar Airways) at 9,032 miles, this new option could out-do even that, with a total of 9,206 miles.

According to an article published by Stuff, "CEO Christopher Luxon 'envisions' flying to US hotspots New York and Chicago once the airline had the right planes." While no official route announcements have been made at this time, those in Auckland and New York may have an option coming their way soon.
