Surgeons performing complicated surgery on patient in operating room

Is there really anything worse than a bad passport photo? I don't know if it's the pressure of having to hold a neutral face in the world's darkest booth or the dreaded feeling of knowing this picture will be sticking with you for the best part of 10 years, but when the time comes for a new photo, we all try our hardest to make ourselves look as presentable as possible - whether that be a fresh haircut, professional contouring kit, or, in the case of these three women - a whole new face.

Yep, three Chinese women visited South Korea for plastic surgery and were deemed so unrecognizable that airport officials actually detained them, arguing that they looked nothing like their passport photos. As you can see in the photo below, the women arrived with severely swollen faces and bandages around their heads, and despite showing various documents and their purchased tickets, they were unable to leave.

The photo, of course, went viral, racking up over 51,000 likes and 23,000 shares on social media, and gave them the power to eventually return to China, scarred from the ordeal - no pun intended. So next time you worry your passport photo doesn't reflect your best angle, you may want to rethink that drastic makeover.
