There's something about staying in an unconventional place that makes for a unique experience. It's unexpected, and that makes for a great story. Like, "did I tell you about the time I spent the night in one of the capsules in the London Eye?" Yeah, how cool is that?
Now there's a new opportunity to stay somewhere well, untraditional, and it's in Sweden. Home rental site HomeAway has partnered with Swedavia Airports and turned Stockholm's original Arlanda flight control tower into a 380 square-foot luxury apartment, complete with with designer, retro furniture, a full bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the runway.
To choose the lucky person, HomeAway is holding a contest for people who live in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, or the Netherlands. One winner will be able to bring up to three of their friends, and spend 24 hours in the airport tower as well as 3 additional nights in a HomeAway property in either Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, or Helsinki. Better yet, round-trip airfare, private meals prepared by world-renown chefs, and VIP transport will all be included as part of the prize package. Basically, you needn't lift a finger.
While exploring the Nordic countries, make sure you stop by Iceland.
