While the small Swiss town of Baden is known for its peaceful atmosphere and status as a relaxation hub full of spas and health resorts, every ten years it breaks tradition and throws an epic party for 10-whole-days.
The largest municipal folk festival in the world, Badenfahrt Festival is located about a 40-minute drive from Zurich and attracts nearly one million visitors. This event is so unique it even made the UNESCO list for Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This year’s theme is ‘Versus’ so expect plenty of contrasts within giant art installations, music played across varies stages and carnival attractions. The festival will also feature a play which takes the audience through Baden’s history, stemming back to Roman times.
Badenfahrt Festival takes place between August 18 to 27, where music will pump through the streets each night until dawn. So if you don’t want to miss out on the event of the decade, grab your tickets from August 1 for 15 francs (€13.50) or a full ten-day pass for 45 francs (€40).
