Shocking news: the state known for big things just made another big thing, though this time it's a little more self indulgent. The Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston, Texas, is a new luxury hotel that will have everything you would expect a Houston hotel to have, but with a huge Texas-shaped pool thrown on top. Typical.
With Southern hospitality at its finest, the hotel (which opens in December) has a full-service spa, 24-hour fitness center, a two-story sports bar, two gourmet restaurants, a wine bar, and a café. While that's neat and all, we're here to talk about that ridiculous rooftop pool, are we not?
Here that you can relax in the heated lazy river, floating around the bends, or if you're more the athletic type, you can always do laps in the infinity pool overlooking Discovery Green Park and the Houston skyline. Pfftt, who are we kidding?
Though we weren't able to confirm prices for a stay quite yet, we're anticipating them to be close to the JW Marriott in downtown Houston, which starts around $162 USD per night. Considering the JW is a higher tier than the traditional Marriott, it could even be less than that. Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and BBVA Compass Stadium are all in the nearby entertainment district too, in case you start to prune up from spending too much time in this state-shaped pool. Ready, set, drift...
