It's that time of year again. Lonely Planet have released their list of the best destinations in the United States — and in 2018 it seems that west coast is, in fact, the best coast. California’s Redwood Coast topped the list of the best U.S. destinations to visit this year.

Over 2,000 years old, this beautiful coast stretches 175 miles from the southern Humboldt County line to the Oregon border. Sun yourself on its stunning beaches along the way, or check out cutesy towns like Crescent City.

If this is making you want to pack your bags and jet off asap, you're in luck. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Save the Redwoods League, entry to 40 redwood state parks is absolutely free on every second Saturday each month. Because why should we have to pay to look at nature anyway?
