If you've visited the UK, you'll know that one of the major draws is its free entry to major museums - something the US sadly doesn't offer. But, in a bid to encourage more of its residents to spend more time in museums, they are opening their doors to the public for free this weekend.
'Museum Day Live' is a new campaign hosted in association with Smithsonian Magazine and will allow anyone with one of their branded tickets to access museums this Saturday 23 September totally free. Hundreds of museums across all 50 states are taking part, with 2017 expected to have the largest number of participating institutions since the project began 13 years ago.
Among those taking part are New York's Museum of Arts and Design, Nashville's Fine Arts Gallery, and the Museum of the Rockies in Montana. For more information on how you can download tickets for Museum Day Live as well as a full list of participating museums, visit the Smithsonian website.
