As if the U.S. hasn't already taken enough of a battering in recent months thanks to a certain someone, now fees at national parks across the country are also expected to go up in May. *Sigh*.
But before that happens, there's one day this month when you can take advantage of the States' most stunning scenery absolutely free. Pencil January 15 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) in your diary and receive free admission to a park of your choice. Heck, you could even turn it into a road trip and tick one national park per state off your list.
If you're unlucky enough to be busy on January 15, fear not! There are three other days in 2018 where you can access national parks across the U.S. for free. Those dates are: April 21 (which marks the start of National Park Week(, September 22 (for National Public Lands Day), and November 11 (for Veterans Day). You can see a full list of participating parks by visiting the NPS website.
