According to BrightLocal, 85 percent of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations — and chances are they won't all be good.
RewardExpert, a free service that helps people maximize their credit card points and travel rewards, looked at nearly 900,000 user reviews from 4,333 hotels — and found that the grumpiest reviews across all the U.S. states are from none other than Washington D.C.
In second place was Colorado — with residents from there leaving the lowest average hotel rating in the country (3.82 on a five-point scale out of 4696 reviews). And in third place, Oregon — with 14.98 percent of Oregonians leaving negative reviews.
The happiest tourists come from Louisiana — leaving the highest national average hotel rating of 4.18. Mississippians and New Hampshirites rounded out the top three happiest states. You can read the full analysis on the RewardExpert website.
