It's no secret that many states across the U.S. have already legalized marijuana (albeit not all fully). As you can see from this map, it's totally illegal to grow, consume and sell marijuana in various states — including New York. But this may be about to change thanks to a little peer pressure from its neighbor, New Jersey.
Thanks to the state's new Governor, Democrat Phil Murphy, the garden state is set to get greener a lot sooner than expected. And it looks like New York's Governor Cuomo may be persuaded to move in a similar direction as Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont all discuss the prospect of allowing recreational marijuana.
