vrei virtual reality bar vienna

Sometimes you want to go out drinking, but don't want to deal with real people. We feel you. Since drinking alone isn't socially acceptable, most of us go out and simply stare at our phones to avoid actual eye contact. Residents of Austria’s capital city have a way better option, though, and in times like these, it's a hell of a lot cooler than actual reality. Yes, the world's first virtual reality bar is here.

At Vrei in Vienna, you can grab an ice cold beer, a delicious slice of pizza, and a virtual reality headset to experience the latest gaming technology the world has to offer. They have headsets like the Playstation VR, Samsung GearVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive for you to use, so you can drink your beer, cocktail, or coffee while you shoot zombies, ride a roller coaster, drive a race car, swim with whales, or even train with a lightsaber. If old-school gaming is more your style, there's a barcade downstairs full of retro arcade games that are totally free to play.

Founder Timon Liebau wanted to give people a comfortable and affordable way to experience the world of virtual reality, and Vrei was the result. And while it's cool to simply stop by to have a good time, you can actually learn about the technology while you're at it — the bartenders are more than happy to answer any and all of your questions.

On that note, we'll see you there. Actually, we’ll probably see zombies and spaceships there, but you know, we’ll acknowledge your presence.
