The phrase 'sensory overload' is a bit of a cliché these days; most bustling destinations in Southeast Asia have been described that way in one guidebook or another. But there's really no country that fits the description better than Vietnam. Hit up cities like the Hanoi, the capital, and Ho Chi Minh City, and you'll be swept up in the smells of street food, the sound of motorbikes tooting, and the dazzling contrasts between old and new, traditional pagodas and shiny new builds.
Then venture into the country's stunning nature, and the assault on your senses continues. Well, to be fair, it's a feast for the eyes most of all. Start off with stunning secluded beaches (trust us and hit up Jungle Beach), continue on to the world’s most spectacular cave system in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, and end up among the endless mountains and rice fields of Sa Pa. Add in some picture perfect towns like Hội An (all canals and colorful French colonial buildings) and a dash of what has to be one of the world's tastiest cuisines (who doesn't love pho?) and you've got yourself one killer vacation destination.
But you don't need us to tell you of its wonders, we'll let these Instagrams do the talking. 19 of them, to be specific, and only ones that accurately portray the chaotic mess of experiences, colors and scenic gems you're sure to fall in love with there. But you have to visit IRL to truly experience that Vietnamese sensory overload... Fingers crossed 2017's the year.
