Much like the mystical creature it was named after, Sasquatch! Music Festival is one of the largest musical events of the summer. Taking place from May 26 to 28 at the Gorge Amphitheatre and overlooking the Columbia river, it's a fantastic location to sit back, soak up some sun, and groove to some tunes. Whether it's your first time or you're a seasoned pro, we've created an all-inclusive guide for those lucky attendees, so you know exactly where to stay, who to catch, and what to bring.
How to Get There
Washington's Gorge is about 5 hours from Vancouver and 3 hours from Seattle. If you’re driving from those areas make sure to get to the grounds early (and with a full tank of gas) since you can get stuck in gridlock for quite some time. If you have friends in another vehicle, definitely try to drive into the parking lot together — whoever is behind you will be your camping neighbour for the weekend.
Don’t have a car? Greyhound is a great option. Just remember there’s luggage restrictions so you’ll have to pack strategically. If you’re from Seattle, you're in luck — you can take a shuttle bus directly to the festival grounds. Make sure to limit your luggage to one check in, some camping equipment, and a cooler. Interested in a ride share? Check out the Sasquatch! forum.
Just a heads up, there’s no public transportation to the Gorge Campground or Amphitheatre. Plan extra time if you need to find a ride to your final destination.
Where to Stay
Whether you’re looking for the classic camping experience or want a bit more luxury there’s an option for you. All campgrounds have a variation of food vendors, showers, security, and an ATM, and all plots fit up to six people. There are four different campgrounds to choose from: Standard, Premier, Gold, and Terrace. Love partying and being in the middle of all the action? Standard camping’s for you. But if you’re willing to pay more for privacy and great views across the Gorge, Terrace camping’s the best bet. For those interested in Glamping, check out the VIP tickets (more information coming up on that). Bringing your own RV to rock out in? Premier camping accommodates all types of campers. So what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, set up your tent and let the festivities begin with a beer in hand.
Which Artists to Catch
Headliners at Sasquatch! always draw out the crowd and this year is no different from the rest. Make sure to check out LCD Soundsystem, Twenty One Pilots, and Chance the Rapper. And while the big names are certainly big on talent, don’t forget about the smaller acts; they put on some of the best shows! We’re hitting MGMT, The Head and the Heart, Big Gigantic and Mac Miller. Other notable acts are the Strumbellas, July Talk and Kaytranada. When you need a laugh break, make sure to check out comedy gold with SNL and Portlandia star Fred Armison, SNL star Sasheer Zamata, and comedy veteran Nate Bargatze.
What to Eat
Insider’s tip: plan out your meals and buy groceries ahead of time. You’ll save money and share some laughs about the gong show of cooking at your plot, especially if you forgot a few things and need to improvise. Don’t forget the bacon and coffee if you want to make fast friends with your neighbours!
If you need something greasy to cure your hangover, the food vendors are a quick and dependable option available every day. Fan favourites are always the Mac and Cheese, poutine, and fire oven pizza. Get your hunger on!
What to Pack
It’s time for festival fashion so grab your glitter, flower crowns, and favourite pair of cut offs. No matter your style, gain some inspo from the festival known best for its fashion – Coachella. Need more ideas? Take a never ending stroll through Pinterest’s festival style for all the best outfits. You may be strutting your best summer outfit during the day, but don’t forget to pack something warm for very chilly nights (a blanket double times for somewhere to sit, too). When it comes to loading your day pack, our must haves are sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, sunglasses, and toilet paper (don’t put all your trust in those gross porta potties).
What VIP Gets You
Lather in luxury and make all your friends jealous by shelling out a little extra for VIP. Sasquatch! offers three VIP packages, and each includes access to hospitality tents with free food, beer, wine, soft drinks, and water. There’s also VIP viewing areas, private restrooms (worth the money right there) and other exclusive perks! If you're looking to amp things up even more, buy the superticket with box seats, which includes reserved seating with wait staff and access to the bar. Simply want to camp in style? Purchase the superickets with fully-furnished glamping tents. A step inside these tents will surely make all your Pinterest dreams come true!
